ChildofVenus | Do you think having this overlay is important? Most people usually only talk about the 5th and 7th house. |
LunaIscariot | Absolutely! It’s an angle and a very deep and personal one since it rules our inner foundations, and what makes us feel comfortable and at home and it similar in energy to the moon. So overlays to this house act like moon aspects. Venus in someone’s fourth feels similar to a moon-venus conjunction. Moon in someone’s fourth feels like a moon-moon conjunction etc. Also look at the ruler of the 4th and which aspects it’s making to other planets. |
astrosaz | I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm not an astrologer but the majority of synastry I've seen with couples I know or celebrity couples there's always something in the 4th! I'm actually way happier when someone puts planets in my 4th rather than my 7th. |
Ami Anne | The IC is a very important angle in synastry. It is VERY intimate and you will feel it if someone places something like the Moon, Venus, or really anything, there. ------------------ Want to Read Simple, Fun,Sexy Articles on Astrology? ChildofVenus | But doesn't the 7th house indicate marriage? So wouldn't planets in that house be more significant than the 4th house? |
astrosaz | That's what people say ChildOfVenus but just in my experience ( which is pretty limited ) I have found the 4th house to be more potent |
ChildofVenus | Most people say the relationship houses are more important in regards to romantic relationships. So if your planets fall in someones 4th house. And someone else's planets fall in their 5th 8th or 7th house they would rather be with that person. |

Thank you!! There's someone I knew who I had the most intimate, comfortable vibe with and I was completely baffled as to why because our Moons were in incompatible signs (Virgo and Libra). No bad aspect, but still pretty incompatible. My Moon didn't even aspect her Venus or Sun or anything. However, her Moon sat right on top of my IC. Makes me wonder if a Moon/IC link - or 4th house overlays or ruler aspects in general - could actually "offset" the generally held view that if your partner's Moon is in an incompatible element (so Fire and Water for Earth and Water and vice versa) you're going to struggle to make an emotional connection? |
SeaGoat | Seeing as the IC is deep personal angle and aspects to the IC are felt like Moon conjunctions. How would it be having Mars conjunct IC be felt in synastry or a stellium. Like this one.

The 7th actually indicates business partnerships... Which is essentially what a marriage is. In today's world people tend to look more for who excites them and who makes them feel the most comfortable in the short term. They're too often not really thinking about whether the person will really make a good partner for building an entire life around. An (other)- a good team-mate that will pick up your slack and vice versa. That's the 7th house. I know a man who's male business partner of 30 years Has his Sun and mercury in his 7th house. The partner's Sun also conjuncts his moon. They've built a great business together and work well together. Obviously they were committed to building a life together. It's basically a marriage without the physical affection.
This same man however, has never been able to make any romantic relationship last with any of his wives or girlfriends because he's never looked for a woman to build a life with. Instead he basically wants to marry a woman who will stay looking as young and as fit as the day they met forever and he quickly moves on to the next as soon as he finds anything that's not "right" about them no matter where their sun might be. So I think if you're not looking for a long-term, life-long business partner, you're not REALLY looking for a marriage in the traditional sense. (and many people today simply aren't even though they don't admit it to themselves.) So 7th house placements aren't really going to carry as much weight. |

Yeah but the 4th house is about comfort.

I have my Cancer Moon conjunct his Sun in his 4th house. And our psyche conjunct in his 4th h as well. This sounds exciting! |
Brenda_S | I don't think there's a clear cut rule. This guy put several planets on my IC cusp and in my fourth. Yeah we were really good friends and we had amazing times together. And he wanted to date me too. But I didn't feel the same. I didn't feel any romantic attraction towards him. This other guy I really really like puts no planets in neither my fourth nor fifth or seventh. His planets overlay my 9th, 10th and 11th houses. But he activates the ruler of those houses with his Mars/Moon so... |
implosions | The IC is a very sensitive point, in that it is the deepest part of ourselves. The area where we are most deeply wrapped in our emotional vulnerability. I have sometimes thought that it can represent the umbilical cord, but am not super sure on this as the 12th house usually represents the womb, not the 4th. But the 4th is where we seek comfort from the Mother, be that our own mother, our inner Mother, or Mother Earth- whatever we soothe ourselves with to be able to feel safe enough to express our vulnerability without harm or rejection. This is where you see people who have Chiron in the 4th find difficulty being vulnerable around anyone, or being the opposite and not seeming to have a filter at all; their sense of security and emotional protection was wounded somehow. Moon conjunct the IC as well can be a very deep connection between the emotional needs and the emotional security needed to be expressive of these. Most Moon/IC people I've met (myself included) prefer to be very private when expressing emotion. Mostly because it just doesn't feel right unless it's done privately (or around very few, 'safe' people). In synastry, this is similar. People who have their planets or angles in conjunction to your IC can give off that 'safe' feeling. Alternatively, it can be extremely uncomfortable to have someone there if there are trust issues or we don't actually want the person that close to us. It can feel like emotions just come up anyway, or they can read us like a book. People here, IMO have a responsibility to be kind to us- and vice versa, we MUST ensure that they do by being very clear about our boundaries in this regard. Wounds here can hurt very deeply. Conjunctions can indeed be similar to a Moon conjunction- in that it is an emotional connection, or empathy-connection. |

I agree with you on this |
Bismarck2 | Something no one is mentioning is if the 4th house is someone's secondary 5th, 7th or 8th houses. This is the case for Pisces, Capricorn and Sagittarius ascendants. |

What about someone with Leo Ascendant? |
Bismarck2 | quote: Originally posted by ChildofVenus: What about someone with Leo Ascendant?
Not using the secondary house rule. For Leo ASC, Scorpio falls in the 4th house. Since Cancer falls in the 12th, this means Scorpio is the secondary 12th. |

So the 12th house would be the secondary Asc for someone with Leo Asc?
|

No, Sagittarius would be. The 12th house would only be the secondary ASC for a Pisces ASC. |
ChildofVenus | So having someone's Mercury, Jupiter and North Node in your 4th house would feel like Mercury conjunct Moon, Moon conjunct Jupiter and North Node conjunct Moon. |
JoJo | His Moon sits on my IC 4 degrees and my Moon sits on his MC 0 degrees. I know how I feel about him... but do oppositions feel the same? Also, my 4th house is in his 7th, and my ASC/Jupiter conjunction is in his 4th...
